OWEN COUNTY, KY PACE EVENT DAY

 

                                     March 26, 2011

               12:00 pm – 4:00 pm (last ride out at 3:15)

5:00 - 8:00 pm  Chili Cook-Off / Bourbon, Beer & Wine Tasting

                       Come visit the beautiful rolling terrain of The Camargo Hunt Owen County fixtures, located just over an hour south of Cincinnati. A great warmup for the Spring eventing season as the territory has coops, stone fences, log jumps, creek crossings, and other interesting features.  Each course is expected to take 30 - 45 minutes to cover at a "fair hunting pace", a mixture of trotting, cantering etc. Saturday’s pace events will be followed by the awards ceremony and our Chili Cook-Off / Bourbon, Beer & Wine Tasting fundraiser.

                 Attendees may enter a chili ($10) or just eat ($20); BB&W Tasting- $20. The Camargo Hunt is pleased to sponsor dinner for any juniors who ride in the Pace...  RSVP to Caryn Lee by March 16th- contact info: carynxart@gmail.com or (513) 271-5252. Please bring chili in a crock pot, and cash or check with you on March 26th.

                Make it a weekend by foxhunting with The Camargo Hunt on Sunday at our Owen County hunt fixture Courtland Farm located on 1883 just 10 minutes away (no capping fee required if you compete in the Pace on Saturday)

                 PLEASE: no dogs permitted at either fixture or event. 

PACE EVENTS:   $25 per rider for 1st class, $15 for the same rider for each additional class

                                                                                               

Class 1: Qualified Foxhunter Pace                             Class 2: Qualified Hilltopper Pace              Class 5: Junior Pace

Class 3: Open Hilltopper Pace A                               Class 4: Open Hilltopper Pace B (shorter)

                                                                                               

Requirements:                                                            

- All riders must wear a helmet. Certified helmets are required for all juniors and strongly encouraged for all riders.           

- “Open” events require only a helmet. Any riding attire is appropriate. Western riders welcome!

- Qualified classes- at least one horse in the pair must be ridden by a member of a recognized hunt, and the horse must considered “qualified” by a recognized hunt.

The Venue: Caryn and Art Lee's Brown Hall

The start of the Pace will be from Caryn and Art Lee's Brown Hall located on Hwy 3103. Trailer parking will be available on site. The Chili Cook-Off / Bourbon, Beer & Wine Tasting will be held in Brown Hall, the newest addition to The Camargo Hunt's Owen County facilities. Chili Cook-Off Flyer  Awards and ribbons will be presented following the Pace. Please note: Any Junior riding the Pace is being sponsored at the Chili Cook-Off by The Camargo Hunt.

Directions to the Pace Event:

 

From I-75, take the Corinth Exit #144. Turn right. Go West on Highway 330 for 1.7 miles.

Turn left on Highway 607. Travel for 3.9 miles. Just over a concrete bridge, turn right on Highway 2018.

In approximately 1.5 miles, 1883 joins from the left. Continue on 2018 past the fire station, past the turn off for 1883 (to the right) to Brown Hall (on the left).

From I-71, take the Sparta/Owenton Exit #57.

Go South on Highway 35 for 4 miles. Hwy 35 becomes Hwy 127 going into Owenton.

Take Hwy 22 East out of Owenton approximately 2 miles to Hwy 227. Go right (South) on Hwy 227 approximately

2 miles to Hwy 330. Turn left on Hwy 330 and travel approximately 1 mile to Hwy 1883. Turn right on Hwy 1883, crossing Hwy 845, but staying on 1883. Continue to stop sign, turning turning right onto 3103. Continue on 3103 to Brown Hall (on the left).
